Getting Help

We are a research team and don’t have capacity to respond to individual requests for clinical help or advice for people with eating disorders or their families.

Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity, runs helplines for people with eating disorders as well as family and friends.

F.E.A.S.T. is an international charity offering support to parents and carers of people with eating disorders.

You can also ring the following helplines for support and direction to appropriate help:

  • NHS 111 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) – dial 111 for urgent health concerns
  • Samaritans (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) – chat online, dial 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org
  • SANEline (4pm to 10pm daily) – dial 0300 304 7000
  • You can also approach your GP for help, or, if you are already being seen by a Mental Health team, approach your Care Coordinator directly.
